Columbia Foundation Website

Designed the website for Frank H. Schwaiger's art gallery to promote the preservation of the architecture and artworks.

My Role: Web Designer

Background

"To perpetuate the Columbia Theater as a cultural resource."

The Columbia Foundation was founded by artist Frank H. Schwaiger to showcase his art pieces and to preserve its vaudeville theater architecture from 1925. I was tasked to design the website as the foundation lacked one to promote showings of the space and donations.

Design Process

The direction I was given when starting out was to showcase as much of the building's visuals as possible. As such, the photography was to be the main point, so I included a gallery page highlighting different elements of the site (Outdoor, Interior, Artworks). I utilized a minimalist style and negative space to keep the focus on the photography. The navigation bar is kept at a small type to not distract from the visuals.

Since moving on from the gallery, the website has been maintained by the other gallery interns and updated with content over time. Site can be viewed here.
